Donegal SFC Preview: St Michael’s star relishing championship clash against Kilcar

first_imgDONEGAL SFC PREVIEW: St Michael’s defender Ryan Langan says he’s relishing his side’s clash against Kilcar in Towney on Sunday afternoon. Langan has been in excellent form all season for Eddie Harkin’s side, and his marauding runs from the half-back line have been an eye-catching feature of St Michael’s play all season. The Creeslough man believes Sunday will represent the perfect opportunity to see where exactly both sides are at this stage of the season. Both teams have all their county personnel back following Donegal’s exit from the All-Ireland series at the start of the month. It’s the box office clash down for decision between two sides with genuine ambitions of landing the Donegal SFC title.Langan told Donegal Daily, “We’re all really looking forward to the game on Sunday, it’s going to be a massive test for us in Towney, but we’re in a good place at the minute.“We’ve been going reasonably well in the league, and the intensity at training has been good, so we’re confident going into the match. “We’d be wary of the threat they possess, they have some exceptional footballers, and we know it’s going to be a serious battle on Sunday.”St Michael’s defeated Kilcar in group stages of the Donegal SFC in Towney in 2014.Langan knows a win on Sunday would book St Michael’s a place in the last eight of the competition, as they defeated Killybegs in May, while Kilcar and St Eunan’s played out a draw.Langan added, “It’s a big incentive for us, knowing a victory will ensure our place in the last eight of the competition, at the expense of either Kilcar or St Eunan’s.“We beat Kilcar a few years ago in Towney, so we know we’re capable of going up to there and getting a result, but as I said there a fantastic team, and are going well under Martin McHugh. “They’ve racked up some big scores in the league, and they got a good result against St Eunan’s last time out in May.”St Michael’s face St Eunan’s in their last group clash, but Langan says all they are focused on is Kilcar. The men from The Bridge are desperate to get their hands of the Donegal SFC title, the elusive prize has so far eluded them.Langan remained coy on their ambitions for the season, and said they’re simply taking it game by game. “We’re not thinking about anything else other than Kilcar, that’s the focus now, it’s going to a massive challenge, but we’re well up for it.“We’ll think and prepare for St Eunan’s when that comes around, but all our attention and focus is on Kilcar at the weekend.“We’ll deal with St Eunan’s when that comes around, and hopefully we can get out of the group stages and into the last eight.“Anything can happen and hopefully on Sunday we can give a good account of ourselves and deliver a performance that gets us over the line.”Donegal SFC Preview: St Michael’s star relishing championship clash against Kilcar was last modified: August 24th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Donegal SFCGAAkilcarnewsRyan LanganSportSt Michaelslast_img read more
